Workspace manager for macOS

Your Mac forgets your layout. Every restart.

Every reboot, every update, every unplugged monitor — you're back to dragging apps across Spaces by hand.

Workspaces saves your whole setup as a named profile and puts everything back in one click. Other tools snap windows into place. Workspaces restores your whole Mac.

"I switch between a dev setup and a writing setup dozens of times a day — this just works." — Software developer, beta tester

How it compares

macOS has had Spaces for nearly two decades — and still no way to save them. Window snappers move windows; none of them remember your setup. That's the gap Workspaces fills.

Save a named setup (which apps, on which desktop, in what position)
Switch between completely different setups in one click
Auto-restore your layout every time you log in

Set up your Mac
exactly how you like it.

Open your apps, spread them across virtual desktops, size each window the way you want. Got a second monitor? Workspaces handles that too — each display, each desktop, each window position is part of the saved setup.

macOS forgets where everything lives the moment you quit apps or restart. Workspaces saves the whole picture as a named profile and puts it all back whenever you need it.

Save as many setups
as you need. Switch instantly.

Arrange your Mac for one context — Design, Writing, Deep Work, Client A, Client B — save it as a named profile, and recall it from the menu bar in one click. Each profile remembers every app, which virtual desktop it's on, and exactly where each window sits.

Switch profiles anytime

Click the menu bar icon, pick a profile, and Workspaces moves every app to the right desktop and positions every window — without closing or relaunching anything. Apps not in the profile are hidden and keep running in the background.

Set one as your login default

Designate a profile to restore automatically on every login. Workspaces relaunches your apps and places each one on its desktop — your layout is waiting the moment you sit down.

Place any window,
exactly where you want it.

Two ways to snap. Drag toward a pin at the edge — the window previews the zone and locks in when you release. Or bring up the pin board while moving a window and drop on a zone directly. Sixteen positions: halves, quarters, thirds, Stage Manager, throw-to-display.

Snapping is included so you don't need a separate window manager — one app for your whole layout, not two. On a multi-display setup, throw-to-display pins let you move any window to your other monitor and have it land in the same relative position.

Untitled Window

Drag the window toward any pin — or focus it and use arrow keys + Enter.

Click it,
or key it.

Every profile and every snap zone is one click away in the menu bar. Restore any layout from the dropdown in seconds. Set keyboard shortcuts for individual snap zones and keep your hands on the keyboard.

  • Menu bar, no Dock icon. Profiles, layouts, and Settings sit one click from the corner of your display — each profile a submenu of its Spaces, apps, and windows.
  • Shortcuts you own. Bind any snap zone to a key combo of your choosing. Drag toward a pin or snap from the keyboard — same result, your pick.

Film Editor

Kai

Kai edits long-form documentaries on a MacBook Pro with two external displays. DaVinci Resolve lives full-screen on the main display; Finder, VLC, and his media drives on the second. The moment he switches from cutting to colour grading, the whole setup changes — different windows, different apps, completely different layout. He saves each mode as a profile and switches in one click.

Design Studio Owner

Sophie

Sophie runs a three-person design studio with two active clients. Client A's project needs Figma, Linear, and Notion open across two Spaces. Client B is a completely different brief — different apps, different context. Rather than reorganising every time she switches clients, Sophie saves each as a profile. One click from the menu bar opens the right apps on the right Spaces, and she's straight into the work.

SMB Founder

Marcus

Marcus runs a small SaaS business from a single MacBook Air. Mornings are operations — Xero, spreadsheets, email. Afternoons are product — Linear, Slack, his staging environment in Safari. He used to spend the first five minutes of every mode hunting for windows. Now he saves a layout for each mode and switches from the menu bar in one click. The layout change signals the context change.

"The login restore is the killer feature for me. My whole layout is ready the second I sit down. I didn't realise how much time I wasted rebuilding it every morning."
